Overview
The University of Pécs combines one of Central Europe’s oldest university traditions with an international Medical School offering Medicine and Dentistry in English. Hundreds of international students join its multicultural community each year, supported by established international career pathways.
History
Founded in 1367, Pécs is Hungary’s oldest university. Its Medical School has delivered medical education since 1951 and introduced English-language Medicine and Dentistry in 1984.
Courses and careers
Medicine and Dentistry are designed for international careers. Eligible graduates can apply to the General Medical Council (GMC) or General Dental Council (GDC), as appropriate, while students considering careers in the USA or Canada can prepare for the USMLE.
Setting
Pécs is a safe university city in south-west Hungary with a rich cultural life and comparatively affordable living costs; students typically budget €600–€800 per month for rent, transport and daily expenses. Direct flights connect many UK airports with Budapest, followed by frequent train and coach services to Pécs taking roughly two and a half hours.
Apply with Medical Doorway
Medical Doorway organises online entrance examinations and supports rolling applications for the September intake. Applications must be submitted by 30 June. Candidates can use our Hungary application route and receive guidance at each stage.
