About Charles University First Faculty of Medicine

Overview

Charles University First Faculty of Medicine offers Medicine and Dentistry within one of Europe’s oldest universities. Medical Doorway works closely with the faculty and supports applicants through its dedicated admissions route.

History

The First Faculty was one of Charles University’s four founding faculties in 1348, making it one of the world’s oldest medical schools. It combines this long academic tradition with a research-intensive and technologically current teaching environment.

Courses and careers

The faculty teaches Medicine, Dentistry and a broad range of health disciplines in a modern, research-led setting. Eligible graduates can apply to the General Medical Council (GMC) or General Dental Council (GDC), as appropriate. The English-language Medicine programme is also one of a relatively small number recognised by the Medical Board of California.

Setting

Students are based in Prague, with access to the clinical, cultural and professional opportunities of the Czech capital. The faculty’s historic identity sits alongside modern teaching and research facilities.

Apply with Medical Doorway

Medical Doorway organises dedicated entrance examinations and guides candidates through application and preparation. Qualifying university graduates may be exempt from the First Faculty entrance examination, so our team checks each applicant’s previous study to identify the correct route.
