Location and History
Cyprus is an island in the eastern Mediterranean whose location has made it important to successive civilisations. Greek, Roman and Ottoman influences are among the layers of history visible in its culture and built environment.
Setting and Student Life
Both universities are based in Nicosia, Cyprus’s capital. The University of Nicosia has purpose-built student residences with restaurants and a swimming pool, and medical students join its Medical School Students’ Society. Away from campus, the island’s beaches, forests and mountains offer a change of pace during study breaks.
Universities and Courses
European University Cyprus offers medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. Practical teaching includes simulation, hospital experience, supervised dental practice and veterinary placements in clinics and teaching farms.
The University of Nicosia offers medicine for school leavers, a graduate-entry medicine pathway and veterinary medicine, with teaching and assessment in English. Medical students can also take part in community healthcare projects supporting local communities, refugees and people in remote parts of Cyprus.
Applying and Events
Nicosia’s graduate-entry medicine pathway gives applicants who already hold a degree a separate route from school-leaver entry. Shortlisted applicants take an online or in-person interview, with Medical Doorway providing initial eligibility assessment and interview preparation. Applications to European University Cyprus are assessed against the requirements of the chosen medical, dental or veterinary programme.
